How did you come to live and/or work in Conshohocken?

When I set out to buy my first home I wanted to stay in Montgomery County, where I grew up.  I was looking for a community that was vibrant, had some degree of a young population and centrally located.  Plus, I always had an interest in economic development and revitalization.  Conshohocken fit the bill on all counts.

What do you do (career wise)?

I am the Director of Real Estate for Mt. Airy, USA, a non-profit community and economic development organization.   The organization is charged with redeveloping Mt. Airy’s commercial corridors and eliminating blight.  I lead our real estate redevelopment initiatives and work with our staff to attract residents and commercial tenants to our properties.

What made you want to run for Borough Council and what is your vision for Conshohocken?

Conshohocken’s renaissance has dramatically changed its demographics.  I felt that I could bring new perspective and a fresh voice to Council, representing the changing face of the borough.  I enjoy meeting people, so campaigning gave me the opportunity to visit with my neighbors and hear their points of view and concerns.  I’m proud of some of the reforms that we’ve made since I joined Council – a new greening program, new transit options for seniors, improved communications with residents, initiation of a business tax audit program, investments in our parks and reduced health care costs, to name a few.  No doubt, we have a lot of work to do, but we’re heading in the right direction.

My vision for Conshohocken is a community that is fiscally sound, with first-class services that provides housing and job opportunities for working families and recreational amenities for a broad range of ages.  I would like to see additional quality retail on Fayette Street, a continued and concerted effort to alleviate our traffic problems and efforts to identify low-cost, neighborhood-specific parking solutions.

What are your favorite places in Conshohocken?

My wife, Lisa, and I enjoy long walks around town – we always seem to find something new.  With our first child on the way I’m sure we’ll be out and about even more.  As far as restaurants go, there are almost too many to name.  For breakfast I prefer the 401 Diner.  For lunch, Donnie Mac’s sandwiches are great.  My favorite dinner spot is the Fayette Street Grille.  If Lisa and I are staying in, we like take-out from Chiangmai.  I prefer the Great American Pub for drinks.  On summer nights there’s nothing like a trip to Scoops.
