Conshohocken Creating Dog Park at Haines & Salvati Memorial Park

The Borough of Conshohocken is creating a second dog park at Haines & Salvati Memorial Park near the intersection of Colwell Lane and West Elm Street. The idea, recommended by Karen Tutino, the Borough Council representative of Ward 1), was agreed to by Borough Council at its April 5th meeting.

Conshohocken is currently redoing the playground equipment in its parks and the playground equipment that was destined for Haines & Salvati will now be installed at an open space called the Meadow, which is located near the intersection of Maple Street and West 2nd Avenue. The new dog park will be fenced in.

The reasoning was that Haines & Salvatti is located near a busy intersection and not easy accessible from the majority of homes in that section of Conshohocken. Creating a park for children in the Meadow will provide a better opportunity for use. For those with dogs, this will create a dog park for those on the western side of Conshohocken. The current dog park is located on the river front on the east side.

To start the planning, the Borough sent out a announcement today that it is seeking to form an advisory committee. Below is the announcement:

The Borough Council of the Borough of Conshohocken is now accepting letters of interest, resumes, and applications for the Borough of Conshohocken Dog Park Advisory Committee for Ward 1. Ward 1 runs the river to the south side of 4th Avenue and goes from Fayette Street to the western boundary line between Corson Street and Light Street. The purpose of this advisory committee is to work in concert with the Borough Administration in assessing and making recommendations for assuring that the dog park meets the capital and operational needs of the community. The Dog Park Advisory Committee shall consist of no less than three (3) and no more than five (5) members that will be appointed by the Borough Council. The Borough Council currently intends to appoint two (2) members must reside in the Borough in Ward 3, where the dog park is located and two (2) members must reside in Ward 1 and one appointee at large.

If you are a Borough resident and are interested in being considered, please complete an application and forward it with a cover letter and resume to the address below:
