Conshohocken Police Officers Received Training on Interacting with Individuals with Autism

On Monday and Wednesday of this week, the Ruttenberg Autism Center trained the officers of the Conshohocken Police Department on Autism Spectrum Disorder. The training provided an overview to include but not limited to, challenges of deficits, communicating and sensory processes. As well as, provide insight and strategies for successful and safer interaction with those who have intellectual disabilities.

Chief Michael Orler initiated the training. Chief Orler stated, “We are aiming to be more informed and prevent tragedy when first responders have interaction with those who have intellectual disabilities.”

The force also recently received training on interacting with those who have Down syndrome.
