Continued Hearing on O’Neill Properties’ Proposed Office Building Set for May 5th

The office building, amphitheater, garden and parking garage proposed by O’Neill Properties for the riverfront on the 200 block of Washington Street was before the Zoning Hearing Board earlier this month. The hearing was continued due to the desire on the part of board members to seek testimony from the Borough’s engineer. The continued hearing has been scheduled for Monday, May 5th at 7:30 p.m. at Old Borough Hall at West 8th and Fayette. Below is the text of the official notice:

The Conshohocken Zoning Board will continue the public hearing for Washington Street Associates IV. LP on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. prevailing time at the Conshohocken Borough Hall, 720 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, PA 19428.

The project is located on the 200 block of Washington Street-Millenium (sic)

Block A. Additional testimony and comments concerning the project will be heard. The Petitioner is requesting variances to the following sections of the Conshohocken Zoning Ordinance:27-1509.2 & 27-1504D.(5) relate (sic) to building bulk and parking structure orientation;27-1705 related to uses in the flood plain and 27-1503 related to building height.

Interested parties are encouraged to attend. Anyone requiring special accommodation to attend the hearing should contact the Conshohocken Administration Office at 610-828-1092 as soon as possible to make arrangements.

During the previous hearing, Brian O’Neill mentioned that he had a prospective tenant and was seeking approval quickly to not lose the opportunity. The tenant was involved in the building design and was suited to its specific needs. While he did not mention who the potential tenant was, he did mention that it would bring 1,000 jobs to Conshohocken and was an international company.

It has been speculated around town that the potential tenant is AmerisourceBergen. The Philadelphia Business Journal published a story detailing its search for additional office space and the search included Conshohocken. Paul McConnell, the president of Conshohocken’s Borough Council, is an employee at the company.

We will attend and report from the hearing. Stay tuned for more.
