As we have reported previously, the Borough of Conshohocken allows for door to door sales with some stipulations and requirements for the sales people and Plymouth Township bans it (except for a small select group of non-profit and community organizations).  What is the law in West Conshohocken and Whitemarsh?  See below:

West Conshohocken
In West Conshohocken door to door sales are allowed during daylight hours. It does not ban it on Sunday. Registration through the Borough is required and if someone knocks on your door, they are supposed to have an ID card issued by the police department.

Similar to Conshohocken, the West Conshohocken Police Department maintains a list of the addresses of Borough residents who have notified the Borough in writing that they do not wish peddlers and/or solicitors to enter upon their property. A copy of this list is provided to the sales people when they get their ID card.

Whitemarsh Township

Whitemarsh is similar to Conshohocken and West Conshohocken.  It allows door to door sales with a permit. The hours door to door sales are allowed are Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to dusk and Sundays from noon to dusk. If you are interested, you can see the permit application by clicking here.

It doesn’t appear Whitemarsh provides residents the opportunity to put their addresses on a list stating they do not wish to be approached by door to door sales people.

So Which Municipality Has the Strongest Ordinance?

Plymouth has the strongest ordinance. They basically banned it, except for youth groups and that type of community activity. Conshohocken, West Conshohocken and Whitemarsh are all pretty much the same in regards to hours, permitting, background checks, etc., however, Whitemarsh is the only one of three that doesn’t have a “do not knock” list. Due to that, Whitemarsh has the weakest ordinance.
