Dr. Melissa Borgstede Joins Daily Grind Fitness

Dr. Melissa Borgstede, a nationally certified personal trainer and licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy, has joined Daily Grind Fitness. Borgstede is a general physical therapist and treats children to athletes to geriatrics who need a daily stretching and movement program. She has experience with knee and hip replacement patient, patients involved in automobile accidents, worker’s compensation injuries, motor-vehicle and disuse injuries, sprains and strains, tendonitis, post surgical patients ACL tears, rotary cuff tears, Achilles tendon repairs, and cancer rehabilitation. Borgstede’s unique experience has allowed her to train clients with almost any kind of injury. She enjoys helping clients return to their lives with improved mobility rebuilt endurance, strength and confidence.

Borgstede earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology and Dance from Muhlenberg College, a Master’s of Science Degree in Health Sciences with a focus on Physical Therapy from The School of Medicine and Health Sciences at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy degree at Marymount University. During her time at Muhlenberg College she was the captain of the Muhlenberg dance team and a member of the renowned Muhlenberg College Theater and Dance Program.

Borgstede began dancing at the age of 3 and took dance classes with Mia Michaels, an Emmy award-winning choreographer who is best known as a judge on the TV Show “So You Think You Can Dance.” She also studied under Savion Glover, an American tap dancer, actor, and choreographer, and preformed at the Broadway Dance Center in New York City and with the American College Dance Festival Association. Through her education of both science and dance, Melissa realized how much body movement fascinated her she decided to pursue physical therapy.

Originally from Staten Island, New York, she now resides in Conshohocken.
