I usually try to keep my opinion to myself on the website. However, the recent controversy surrounding the raising of sewer rates has resulted in public discourse finding itself….well…. in the sewer (yes I know that was clever). First, to whoever put the above photographed flyer in my mailbox, that is illegal. Secondly, to whoever made the video implying Jack Coll, who I have met twice in my life and I wouldn’t say I know beyond that he owns a frame store and writes books about the history of Conshohocken, stole or misappropriated money while he was in charge of the Sewer Authority, you owe Mr. Coll and the residents of the the Borough an apology. Your video was a hack job and poorly thought out. Did Mr. Coll misspeak when he said the amount in the bank when he left office in 2005? It is quite obvious seeing that records showed what he said was incorrect. I have to assume a thorough accounting of the Sewer Authority took place when the lady was convicted of embezzling from it this past year. Let me do some quick research…that way easy. According to the Times-Herald an annual audit turned up the fact that around an employee embezzled $160,000. Did this annual audit not turn up the 9 million dollars missing according to Coll’s memory and the Sewer Authority’s records? When your video pops up the “It is time to hold Jack accountable” and asks where the 9 million dollars is, is just way over the top and basically accuses him of theft. Remove the video and apologize.
This post is not meant to attack anyone. We are all neighbors living within one square mile. We really can’t have a sincere and honest debate about sewer fees without making attack videos?
There is a council meeting on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. They meet at 720 Fayette Street. Now, back to drink specials and other fun topics.
