Press Conference Delays Opening of Plymouth Road Bridge

The Plymouth Road Bridge, which has been closed for several months due to a sinkhole, reopened today at approximately 11:00 a.m. When we arrived for a press conference to open the bridge, the fist question we asked of guys in hardhats (they looked more like management types) was when the work was actually completed. The answer was that the workers completed a punch list (little things that need to be completed) at 6:30 a.m. today, but the bridge was considered completed on Tuesday afternoon. To be fair, the bridge was able to be opened three days early.

So if you were sitting in traffic this morning in the Plymouth Road/Butler Pilke/Germantown Pike area, it was due to the need for a press conference for politicians to congratulate themselves.
