Teachers Are Back to School and Students Start on September 1st in the Colonial School District

The Colonial School District sent out the below information today regarding teachers, who have already reported to school, and the upcoming first day for students:

While many teachers have already been preparing their classrooms for the 2015-2016 school year, the Colonial School District (CSD) officially welcomed teachers back to work on Tuesday morning with an opening convocation. Before heading to their individual buildings the entire CSD staff got together in Colonial Elementary School to meet new staff members and hear some inspiring words from Superintendent Dr. MaryEllen Gorodetzer.

“Here in Colonial, all of us are driven by the same selfless cause or purpose that drives our organization forward – children,” Dr. Gorodetzer said. “We believe in empowering our students, our next-generation workforce, to imagine, explore and experiment. We believe in cultivating our students’ creative and entrepreneurial skills and talents.

“We also value Collaboration, Innovation and Inspiration,” she added. “We believe in working together and teamwork. We believe in finding new and better tools, and using old tools in new ways. We believe that we have what it takes to make a positive difference and to inspire learning.”

Dr. Gorodetzer also thanked the entire staff for their hard work and planning in preparation for the new school year.

“It is the thoughtful planning, dedication and collaborative work of all of you that ensures students feel welcomed, safe and are inspired to learn,” she said. “It is because of you, that Colonial School District is recognized as an innovative, forward thinking and top rated school district.”

The convocation kicked off five days of in-service before teachers and staff welcome students back to school on Tuesday, September 1.
