Use the Sidewalk Along the Matsonford Bridge at Your Own Peril

If you you need to walk over the Matsonford Bridge between Conshohocken and West Conshohocken, you may want to reconsider it.  The sidewalks are still covered with snow and ice.  A reader took the above photo today at 12:30 p.m. and reported that it was in the same condition as late as 3:30 p.m.

During a previous snow fall we heard that the bridge’s sidewalks were in a similar condition as those in the photo.  A reader wrote to MoreThanTheCurve.com, “The Fayette Street Bridge in Conshohocken is an icy mess, it has not been plowed, salted…. nothing since the beginning of these snow storms…the steel steps are icy.”  The reader, a commuter, was referring to the sidewalks and steps in the email.  According to the reader this is an ongoing issue over the years.

After that email we asked the Borough Manager who was in charge of maintaining the bridge and he responded that it was PennDOT’s responsibility.  Hopefully it will be cleaned by Monday’s morning commute.
