Watch Blast at Local Quarry in Plymouth Meeting

Students from Bryn Athyn College recently visited the Highway Materials quarry on Joshua Road in Plymouth Meeting. They shot video and capture a blast used to loosen the stone. Watch it below (the blast occurs right at the 1:00 mark):

Formerly operated by the Corson family, this quarry in Plymouth Meeting is the oldest continuously operated quarry in the United States according to Highway Materials’ website. Plymouth Meeting has been a center of limestone production since the colonial era. The limestone from this quarry is used as modified and clean stone for heavy construction and highway construction. It is also used for agricultural lime and other purposes.
