10 things to look for in 2020

What exciting and not so exciting things will happen in Conshohocken, West Conshohocken, Plymouth Meeting, and Lafayette Hill in 2020? Here are 10 things to look for:

  • The Smoothie Shack (West 4th Avenue and Forrest Street) is expected to open in early 2020.
  • Orangetheory Fitness (Whitemarsh Shopping Center) is expected to open in 2020.
  • Michael’s (Plymouth Meeting Mall) is expected to open in early 2020.
  • Shake Shack (Plymouth Meeting Mall) is expected to open in 2020.
  • Apartments. There are three approved, but unbuilt, apartment communities in Conshohocken. Two have been approved for a few years. One was just approved in 2019. Expect at least one to start construction.
  • The sewer. During the last few meetings of 2019, Conshohocken’s Borough Council has hired consultants to examine the potential sale of the sewer system. In 2020, if a sale looks like it is being seriously considered, the issue will become a hot topic.
  • It isn’t obvious yet, but SEPTA has started some initial work to move the Conshohocken train station to just above Oak Street. Expect to see more in 2020. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2021.
  • The West Valley Green Bridge in Whitemarsh could reopen in some capacity in 2020 (around March).
  • Butler Pike in Plymouth Meeting isn’t going to reopen in 2020.
  • We hear May 2020 for Balligomingo Road reopening in West Conshohocken.
