116 new Coronavirus cases in Montgomery County

In a press release today Montgomery County officials reported that 116 individuals tested positive for Coronavirus since yesterday and an additional eight people have died. This brings the countywide totals to 2,739 positive tests and 155 deaths.

“While we continue to report a steady number of individuals testing positive for COVID-19, we are pleased to have already received results for 92% of the 500 individuals tested during the first two days at the re-opened testing site, 13% of which are positive,” said Dr. Valerie A. Arkoosh, Chair, Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. “These initial results, compared to our peak positivity rate of 24%, provide evidence that social distancing is having a positive impact on the spread in our region, but we must continue to strictly adhere to these mitigation measures in the days and weeks ahead.”

There is limited information about those who passed away. Two of the victims had been hospitalized and three resided in long-term care facilities. Their ages ranged from 71 to 89. All were female.
