Baggataway Tavern sold. Big night planned for Thursday before handing off keys

The Baggataway Tavern in West Conshohocken has been sold to the organization that owns Jasper’s Backyard in Conshohocken. The current owners bought the bar and restaurant in April 2005 that had long been Cunningham’s Court, which was owned by Sixers legend Billy Cunningham. Cunningham had opened Cunnigham’s Court in 1987.

Former Managing Partner Stew Keener shared:

It is with great sadness that we announce that Baggataway Tavern’s last night will be this coming Thursday June 2.  On behalf of the owners and staff of Baggataway Tavern, we have been honored to serve this community for the past 17 years.  Many of us have been connected to this place since it was Cunningham’s Court which has made this decision even harder. We would be remiss if we did not thank all of our employees who put the soul into our place and brought our vision to life each day.  To the West Conshohocken and Conshohocken communities, we thank you for 17 amazing years and we will miss you all!

Baggataway Tavern’s current managing partner, JP Boles, shared the following in regards to the current owner’s final night on Thursday, June 2nd:

We plan on having a big night. All the old Billy Cunningham employees will be in attendance, our current staff, and even Pat Clark, the “Round Mound of Sound” will be singing and spinning records.

MoreThanTheCurve.com spoke with Chris Magarity, one of the owners of Jasper’s Backyard, who confirmed the acquisition and asked everyone to stay tuned for the announcement on the future of the bar/restaurant in West Conshohocken.

Baggataway will open on June 2nd at 4:30 p.m. with an undetermined closing time, but probably 2:00 a.m. The kitchen will close at 10:00 p.m.

More to come.
