Breaking | Crowd fled Conshohocken Soap Box Derby area after altercation along track

We have four reports of an incident that just took place during the Conshohocken Soap Box Derby. While the reports are slightly different, they all have the same main points.

There was some type of altercation at or near the Getty station at East 8th Avenue and Fayette Street.

Someone yelled “gun,” possibly only “run,” maybe a combination of both.

The participants and crowd at the Soap Box Derby all ran from the area.

One of our friends called us and was still breathing heavily from having run from the area. During this call, the confusion seemed to have been cleared up and you could hear the derby’s public address announcer calling the racers back to the starting line area.

We will work on getting the full story. More to come.
