Chatter Splatter to close in May 2021 due to COVID-19

Chatter Splatter, which operates an organized children’s playdate with bounce houses and more out of Suburban Sports Center along Conshohocken Road, has announced it will be closing on May 2, 2021. While it’s not closed yet, it is the second local business to close that we know of due to the impact of COVID-19. Jimmy John’s in Conshohocken closed in late June due to the loss of the corporate lunch crowd due to working at home due to the pandemic.

Below is the announcement from Chatter Splatter:

Over the last few months we have been trying our hardest to hold on to something we built almost 7 years ago for the pure purpose of meeting new parents. As we all know, Chatter Splatter developed and grew and became what it is today (well was 6 months ago). This year was going to be our year. We were on a great path and when we set up our party booking system, created a new website, and actually hired staff to help us, we thought 2020 was the year for us. We have put A LOT of blood, sweat, and tears into this business and it has been our families’ baby.

As we try to find the words to write this, all we can say is this…

It is with very heavy heart that due to the financial constraints of the last 6 months caused by COVID-19, we have had to use our remaining funds to remain “in” our lease with our landlord. After many sleepless nights and family meetings we ultimately have come to this final conclusion. We have drawn up a final short term contract with our landlord which will end on May 2nd 2021. After running many numbers, we concluded that we cannot financially continue Chatter Splatter past this date.

We opened this small family business in April 2014 and it has been an amazing 7 year journey (from open to close). It truly is breaking our hearts but unfortunately it is inevitable after what has been handed to us. We want to thank you all for coming along this journey with us and creating memories. Many of you have become friends and created not only memories but traditions at Chatter Splatter. My (Nykee) own kids literally grew up at Chatter Splatter, first milestones and even took first steps here.

We are grateful that we have at least 8.5 months to finish Chatter Splatter correctly and on our terms. We hope that you will join us in celebrating what we have left and to end this chapter of our lives on a high.
