How did you come to live and/or work in Conshohocken?

In 1990 I moved to Conshohocken when I found a house I liked through a friend who had preceded me here. I had two young sons at that time and the schools had a good reputation.

What do you do (career wise)?

I am a visual artist. I am mostly known for my food sculptures although I do have several permanent commissions in the area including several memorial bronze portrait busts and reliefs at the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Hall on Walton Rd., Drexel University, St. Joseph’s University and other sites in Philadelphia.

Besides doing the butter sculpture for the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg  (shown above) my wife and I will soon be going to San Francisco to complete three sculptures for a Valentine’s Day Ball. My wife is a fellow sculptor, Marie Pelton, and we work as a team on many of these projects.

What do you love most about Conshohocken?

I love the old homes, the history, the open spaces, the bike trail, the easy access to Philadelphia and the Main Line where I teach (Fleisher Art Memorial and Rosemont College) and the proximity to New York.

What are your favorite places in Conshohocken?

My favorite place is The Whitemarsh Art Center.  My favorite places to dine are The Spring Mill Café, Totaro’s Trattoria, Tony A’s, Ted’s Pizza and the Golden Dragon.  I obtain my sculpture materials from Concrete Services.  I love to food shop at Lee’s Produce, Maple Acres Farm, The Farmer’s Market, Conshohocken Bakery and Andorra Springs Water.
