Conshohocken invited to join the Main Line

During a March 31st meeting, representatives of the original Main Line communities of Overbrook
Merion, Narberth, Wynnewood, Ardmore, Haverford, and Bryn Mawr voted to invite Conshohocken to join the Main Line. For the first 50 years, Conshohocken would be regulated to “Observer” status, which allows it to utilize the “Main Line” branding, but not vote on organizational matters.

Conshohocken joins Gladwyne, Villanova, Radnor, Strafford, Devon, and Berwyn as communities with “Observer” status. Bala Cynwyd, Wayne, Paoli, and Malvern have full Main Line status but aren’t allowed to vote on adding new members.

While the names of the representatives who voted are kept confidential, the representative from Merion was quoted as saying, “Conshohocken is where the help use to live, but now they are eating $100 hamburgers. It was time to elevate the community to Main Line status.”

The representative from Ardmore shared, “Being part of the Main Line use to be about proximity to the railroad between Philadelphia and Harrisburg, but now it’s more about popping the collar on a pink Polo and home values.”

“The only thing we like almost as much as old money is new money,” shared the representative from Bryn Mawr.

The invitation does come with one condition. Conshohocken can no longer be referred to as “Conshy” and especially not “Cunshy.” The representative of Wynnewood referred to the moniker as “vulgar.”

Details on the secretive initiation ceremony are expected next week.

Conshohocken residents can find details here on what is now required of them with their new Main Line status.
