The snow this past Saturday forced the annual Halloween Parade inside, but the kids still had fun.  Thanks to Brian Coll for the photo.

The “opera cabbie” of the Main Line was discovered at the Marriott in West Conshy.

Jeff Baxter has been named manager, outreach and strategic partnerships, at Cradles to Crayons, a West Conshohocken-based nonprofit that provides new and gently used everyday essentials to disadvantaged children, up to age 12, living in low-income and/or homeless situations in the five-county southeastern Pennsylvania area.

Conshohocken Post 1074 Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct the following Veterans Day Services in memory of all deceased Veterans on November 11, 2011:

  • 1000: Memorial Services at Conshohocken Veterans Monument, West 2nd Avenue at Fayette Street
  • 1030: Memorial Services at West Conshohocken Veterans Monument
  • 1100: Memorial Services at VFW Post 1074 Monument, 300 East 5th Avenue

The Gypsy Saloon in West Conshy has a new logo.  It was designed by Heather Marley.

Happy Anniversary to M Bar for their second anniversary, Stella Blu for their 10th and 8 East for their first.

Delaware’s Department of Correction held a graduation ceremony recently for its new class of cadets including Heather Berasley of Conshohocken.

The Conshohocken Police Department recently promoted David Lennon to Sergeant and added two new officers; Sean Gregory and Allyson Hassett.

Former Conshy Celebrity Samantha Long was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma and shaved her head on Wednesday night at Guppy’s.  She is raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society by selling handmade jewelry.  You can see some of the pieces, read her story and get links to her store by clicking here.

Paper Rock Scissors, Conshohocken’s only stationery and event design studio, is seeking an intern for the Spring 2012 semester.  Must be currently enrolled in university-level classes and have a background in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.  We are looking for someone who has a keen eye for good design and who will be able to immediately contribute to our team.  Please forward cover letter and resume to work@paper-rock-scissors.com.

Sheriff Eileen Behr is hosting a Meet & Greet at Flanigan’s Boathouse tonight from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. $25 includes Happy Hour snacks and beer and wine. She posted that this will be a fun evening to get to know each other, get reacquainted or just hang out with old friends. Please join us and invite friends!

The Novel Destinations Book Club will be discussing Peony in Love by Lisa See on Saturday, November 19 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Conshohocken Free Library.  Stop by the library and pick up your copy if you’d like to participate.  A little above the novel, “In 16th-century China, three women become emotionally involved with The Peony Pavilion, a famed opera rumored to cause lovesickness and even death. Peony, the cloistered daughter of a wealthy scholar, succumbs to its spell.”

Area Democrats are having a Get Out the Vote Rally with Senator Bob Casey on Saturday, November 5th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the UFCW Local 1776 located at 3031-A Walton Road in Plymouth Meeting.

Spamps is having a Mom’s Night Out on Wednesday, November 9th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with two stress-free hours of cocktails, gossip, venting and more.

On Saturday, November 12th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. the Conshohocken Police Association is hosting a fundraiser at Guppy’s.  The donation is $20 at the door and 100 percent goes to the association. The association is going to utilize these donations to provide funding to community improvement projects.

Volunteer

Join Young Friends of Cradles to Crayons for a Volunteer Night on Wednesday, November 9th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  This is a great opportunity to learn more about C2C, engage in a meaningful, tangible volunteer experience, and network with other young professionals in the Greater Philadelphia region!  After volunteering they will head out for drinks at Guppys.

Almost 150,000 square feet of office space has been leased at Spring Mill Corporate Center.

Conshohocken’s Poptent, which hosts contests for brands for its community of video creators to make viral marketing videos, had expanded its office and is adding staff.

Monetate, a website optimization company, has signed a 20,161 square foot lease at Quaker Park in Conshohocken.

The Academy in Manayunk, or AIM, a school for children with language based learning disabilities and a professional development center for educators and practitioners, has signed a 15-year, 61,496 square foot lease at River Park II in Conshohocken.

Randy Thurman has resigned as chairman of CardioNet. He will be succeeded as chairman of the Conshohocken, wireless medical technology company by board member Kirk Gorman. Gorman has been a member of the board since August 2008, and chairman of the company’s audit committee since May 2009. He has served as the executive vice president, chief financial officer of Jefferson Health System since September 2003.
