Conshohocken police use drone to locate a missing child

The Conshohocken Police Department utilized a UAV (unmanned ariel vehicle or more commonly drone) on January 29th to locate a runaway juvenile. After receiving a report that the juvenile was missing, Patrol Officers Steve Vallone and Sgt. David Lennon located the minor’s scooter in Sutcliffe Park. The pair were unable to locate the child in a wooded area so Officer Matt Foster piloted the department’s thermal imaging drone over the park. The drone detected three heat signatures in the wooded area. This enabled the two officers at the scene to locate and reunite the child with his or her family.

According to the Conshohocken Police Department, it has four FAA-certified UAV pilots and five UAVs.
