Conshy Celebrity – Mary Beth Zakrzewski

How did you come to live and/or work in Conshohocken?

I moved to Conshohocken three years ago, after living outside the area with a previous job. I got a job in Conshohocken and had a group of friends that lived here. Additionally, it was the perfect location choice to be close to family in surrounding suburbs as well being only 20 minute train ride to Center City. Conshohocken is home for me now, I love it here.

What do you do (career wise)?

I am currently the Recruitment and Employment Manager for the upcoming Valley Forge Casino Resort, opening this Spring 2012. I am very excited about this project. Creating the area’s only full amenity gaming resort is an amazing experience, especially being involved in this from the pre-open phase where I have involvement in making and impact on what we are going to become.

As the Recruitment and Employment Manager I administer the full life cycle recruitment and onboarding process for an the 650+ jobs we are hiring for in various roles like: valet, security, marketing, accounting, food and beverage, table games, hotel operations, retail, slots, and more. Valley Forge Casino Resort will offer various new restaurant concepts bars and a new nightclub, retail outlets, spa and fitness and a casino floor. We are actually hosting some mass hiring events for food and beverage, internal career fairs for all roles within this department February 9-11, from noon till 8:00 p.m., for candidates to attend. Candidates interested in bartending, hosting, being a cocktail server, nightlife server or culinary positions, etc., within any of our eight dining options, will be interviewed at this time.

All candidates can apply on our website where all open positions are listed.  There are various other roles as well that may peak your interest. Take a look and see!

What are you involved in outside of work?
I am from a large family who all live in the area, and I love spending time with them. I enjoy running, checking out new restaurants, and often like to hang out at local sports games.

What do you love most about Conshohocken?

I love that I have met some great people that live and work in this town, and made some wonderful friends. The neighborhood and the overall sense of community are what keep me here. I have a great friend here who lives across from me in my apartment building that I have known for years but have grown closer to since being neighbors. We love hanging out together at different places in Conshohocken, and always have a great time wherever we venture to.

What are your favorite places in Conshohocken?

I love going for long runs on the Schuylkill trail, having breakfast on weekends at Conshohocken Café and meeting up with friends at my favorite hangout, Baggataways where I once worked and where I met my boyfriend, who works there now.
