Coronavirus cases still high, but trending down in Montgomery County. First death reported in Conshohocken

The Montgomery County COVID-19 Dashboard shows that since our last report on December 14th there have been 2,931 new cases of Coronavirus (see chart below for specific daily numbers). The total number of cases across the county since the start of the pandemic is now 30,085.

Thus far in December, there have been 97 deaths due to Coronavirus in in Montgomery County, which is up from 55 on December 14th. This includes the first death in Conshohocken.

There were 33 deaths in November, which was up from a total of six in October. The number of deaths countywide since the start of the pandemic is 968.

The 14-day PCR positive rate is 11.25% as of December 17th, which is down slightly from 11.37% as of December 9th. This is up from 8.37% as of November 29th. Having this number at 5% or under is considered suppression of the virus.

In regards to hospitalizations, as of December 22nd, there were 450 patients in Montgomery County hospitals due to Coronavirus. This is down from 546 patients as of December 14th. There are currently 49 patients who require a ventilator, which is down from 56 on December 14th.

The number of cases from the most recent 14 days is 325 more than the 14-days prior. The most recent seven days is 452 less than the previous seven days.

Locally, here are the current numbers:

  • Conshohocken is at 242 cases, which is 24 more than since December 14th. There has been one death
  • West Conshohocken is at 32 cases, which is five more than since December 14th. There have been no deaths
  • Plymouth Township is at 625 cases, which is 70 more than since December 14th. There have been 12 deaths
  • Whitemarsh Township is at 619 cases, which is 52 more than since December 14th. There have been 24 deaths
