Coronavirus Update – Local businesses, government, and happenings

Below is a running list of the latest information about what is open/closed in the communities of Conshohocken, West Conshohocken, Plymouth Township and Whitemarsh Township. We anticipate needing to update it several times a day. Each time we update it, we will mark the day and time. As things are going to likely constantly change, please use this as a reference, but for anything important, you should check directly with the business, government, agency, etc. You can send any information, updates, corrections, etc to info@burbmedia.com.

Utilities have announced they won’t disconnect your service for non-payment during the crisis. For specifics, check with your utility companies.

Local governments are still functioning, but they have announced or likely working on policies to limit human interaction. Here are the details for Conshohocken, West Conshohocken, and Whitemarsh Township. No information from Plymouth Township yet.

If you are wondering if you can get the kids out of the house and take them to a playground in Conshohocken the answer is no. Conshohocken has announced that playgrounds are closed until further notice, the Sutcliffe Park bathrooms will be closed until further notice, and the A-field will be closed until April 1st.

The Donofrio Basketball Tournament played at the Fellowship House in Conshohocken is canceled. 

Brittingham’s is the first restaurant to announce it is closing (that we know of).

Liquor stores remain open.

Borough of Conshohocken has canceled the following public meetings:
* Borough Council Meetings at 7:00pm on March 18, 2020 and April 1, 2020
* Dog Park Advisory Committee Meetings at 6:30pm on March 17, 2020 and April 21, 2020.
* Environmental Advisory Council Meetings at 7:00pm on March 19, 2020 and April 16, 2020
* Mary Wood Park Commission Meeting at 7:00pm on April 13, 2020 at the Mary Wood Park House, located at 120 East 5th Avenue, Conshohocken PA 19428
* Parking Task Force Meetings at 6:00pm on March 25, 2020 and April 22, 2020
* Planning Commission Meeting at 7:00pm on April 9, 2020
* Zoning Hearing Board Meeting at 7:00pm on March 16, 2020

Whitemarsh Township – Following state and Montgomery County directives to avoid mass-gatherings, all public meetings and Township activities and programs have been postponed through March 25.

A group of restaurants in Conshohocken/West Conshohocken made a joint statement you can read here. That being said, if you want to eat out, we would advise calling or at least checking the restaurant’s social media/website prior.

Delivery services such as Door Dash, Caviar, Grubhub, and Uber Eats are still operating. Many area restaurants utilize these services. We have seen Grubhub announce contact-free delivery.

While the Plymouth Meeting Mall announced it was going to close for two weeks (reopens March 27th), that didn’t necessarily include every business on the property. Whole Foods Market will remain open and stores and restaurants that you do not have to enter through the mall may still be open.

The King of Prussia Mall has announced it is staying open (some stores did close).

Grocery stores and convenience stores are open.

The Valley Forge Casino Resort is closed.

All gyms, large and small, are closed. We have seen smaller studios offering online classes. Check directly with them on that. UPDATE – We are no longer sure gyms were ordered close. There is one in East Norriton that hasn’t closed and we are trying to get clarification. Wolf definitely said it and it was widely reported, but we are not sure if that wasn’t a mistake. For now, go with should be closed, but we are looking into it.

The Community Center at the Fellowship House and Mary Wood Park House in Conshohocken will be closed and all activities taking place within the facility canceled until Wednesday, April 1st. Additionally, all outdoor programs and rentals at all parks will be canceled until April 1st. This is subject to change and/or extend based on the evolving situation.

All Whitemarsh Township Parks and Recreation programs, events, external rentals, and buildings will be closed for two weeks through Friday, March 27th. This is in support of Governor Wolf’s announcement today, March 12th, which all large gatherings and recreational activities are postponed to help stop the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). 

The Greater Plymouth Community Center – Gov. Wolf has ordered the closure of all Mont. County Community Centers. This will be effective on Fri, March 13th and extends through Fri March 27th. This could change based on the rapidly evolving situation. Please check our website & social media for updates.

All schools, daycares, and adult daycares are closed.

There are too many events to go through each one and say whether it’s happening or canceled. The best option is to go directly to the event holder’s social media or website.

In regards to retail stores, grocery stores we ordered to stay open, but smaller retail shops were only encouraged to close. The only one we have seen announce that it is closed for the two weeks is Sanctuary Blu.

Montgomery County has suspended jury trials and jury duty for two weeks.
