Our contact at Covanta was out of the office for a few days, so we are just getting to this. This past Saturday, residents along Colwell complained about an odor. We reached out to find out if the smell was originating at the plant and received the following:

Regarding the Saturday odor complaints, we investigated and we have no reason to believe that the facility was the source. That doesn’t mean there was no odor, as there could be odors from a number of other sources in the area.

We also asked about a construction crane that was spotted at the plant.

The mobile crane is on site for maintenance work going on at the facility. It is needed for a couple of larger maintenance activities, including replacing the mufflers on the rooftop steam vents to reduce noise at the plant.
