The attorney for developer K. Hovnanian sent a letter on July 22nd notifying Whitemarsh Township of its withdrawal of an application to develop townhouses adjacent to Abolition Hall in Plymouth Meeting.

Previously, Whitemarsh Township’s Board of Supervisors had approved a conditional use application for the townhouse community. The current application was for preliminary subdivision and land development.

This plan has been controversial since it was announced in 2017. The property is viewed as historic due to the Corson family’s role in the abolition movement and as a stop on the Underground Railroad.
