Final Approval of SORA West Before Conshohocken’s Borough Council on October 17th

Keystone Property Group’s SORA West, the future corporate headquarters of AmerisourceBergen, is on the agenda for Conshohocken’s Borough Council at its Wednesday, October 17th meeting. The meeting is held at 7:00 p.m. at Borough Hall at West 4th Avenue and Fayette Street.

Specifically, the agenda items include an amendment to the zoning of the SP-4 district to allow for 10 additional feet to the height of the buildings if it is needed to hide mechanical items placed on the roof and the height of retaining walls. A second item before Borough Council is a vote to vacate portions of West Hector Street and Forrest Street, which run through the property involved. A third item is for “preliminary/final approval for SORA West plans for land development.” The third one is the big one. It moves the project forward to allow work to begin.

One thing we missed in regards to SORA WEST, was that in May, Borough Council voted to provide a “conditional use” for the project in regards to public parking. Throughout this entire process going back a few years, there was always to be 300 parking spaces dedicated to the public. The granted “conditional use” allows the developer to only provide 150.

During a more recent meeting, Keystone showed how these spaces (in green) would fit within the 1,505 space parking garage that is to be built along West Elm Street (between the Washington Fire Company and Saint Mary Quasi Parish).

What is interesting about the reduction in public parking spaces is that the Borough was adamant about it being 300 spaces while it was in the approval process.

More to come.
