Good Luck Whitemarsh: Portion of Stenton Avenue Closing for Approximately Eight Weeks

Residents of Whitemarsh, and those that regularly traverse the township, are really being hard hit with road closures. First the West Valley Green Road Bridge closed. More recently the portion of Butler Pike between Germantown Pike and Plymouth/Flourtown Roads closed due to a sink hole. Now Stenton Avenue, between West Mill Road and Flourtown Road, is closing for eight weeks so improvements can be made to the three way intersection of Stenton, Flourtown and Cricket. The Stenton Avenue closure starts Monday, November 5th.

Below is the notice from Whitemarsh Township:

Stenton/Flourtown/Cricket: On Monday, November 5, 2018 Stenton Avenue will be closed between West Mill Road and Flourtown Road to allow Stage One construction activities for the Stenton Avenue, Flourtown Road and Cricket Road intersection improvement project. This closure will be in place for approximately 8 weeks (weather permitting). After the installation of the storm sewer on West Valley Green Road, local traffic will be allowed to travel along Stenton Avenue to West Valley Green Road (maybe a week). Traffic from West Mill Road will be detoured along Stenton Avenue to Northwestern Avenue, Germantown Pike, Joshua Road and Flourtown Road back onto Stenton Avenue. Traffic traveling down to the closure at Stenton Avenue will be detoured onto Flourtown Road, Joshua Road, Germantown Pike, Northwestern Avenue and back onto Stenton Avenue. Traffic on Joshua Road coming from the East will be warned of the Stenton Avenue closure and should follow the posted detour instead of driving down Stenton Avenue. Emergency vehicles and local traffic will continue to have access.

Good luck.
