Hertz incorrectly reported rental vehicles stolen which resulted in a Plymouth Township woman being arrested

A national story about Hertz incorrectly reporting rental cars as stolen and its customers being arrested has a local connection. The story dates back to 2018, however, it is back in the news because Hertz has now agreed to settle the resulting lawsuits.

One of the customers arrested was Seleema Lovelace, a former candidate for Plymouth Township’s council and the owner of a notary and consulting business in Bridgeport. In 2021, Hertz reported the vehicle she had rented after an accident as stolen and the Plymouth Township Police Department pulled her over and arrested her.

6ABC Action News has the full story, including an interview with Lovelace. Watch below.
