Hospitalizations dip under 100 in Montco due to Coronavirus

During a Monday afternoon press conference, Montgomery County officials announced that there had been 32 new cases of Coronavirus on Saturday, June 13th, 20 on Sunday, June 14th, and 39 on Monday, June 15th. Ten of the cases over the three days are from long-term care facilities. This brings the total number of cases since the pandemic started to 7,847.

The county also announced that there had been nine deaths reported between June 13-15. The deaths took place between April 28th and June 11th. Overall, there have been 777 deaths due to Coronavirus in the county since the start of the pandemic. Deaths connected to a long-term care facility represent 84% of confirmed deaths due to Coronavirus (650 of 777). The county also reported 87 probable deaths, which are deaths not confirmed with a lab test.

On the hospital front, there are currently approximately 95 patients in county hospitals due to Coronavirus. That is down a peak of over 400. Approximately 25% are on a ventilator, which has been a pretty consistent statistic throughout the pandemic.

In regards to reaching the green phase of reopening, Arkoosh shared that all the numbers are heading in the right direction, but did not give a firm date. Last week she said she believed it would be possible by early July.

The two charts above show the number of new positive cases over the past 14 days. The number of cases has declined by 262 in comparison to the previous 14 days. While the state has abandoned the formula of needing to have an average of no more than 30 cases per day over 14-days to reach the yellow phase of reopening, the charts show that we are still 28 cases off that original benchmark.
