Hospitalizations down to 52 countywide. Another day with no deaths. Positivity rate steady at under 4%

During a press briefing on July 29th, Montgomery County officials announced that there were 44 new cases of Coronavirus in the county. Montgomery County Commissioner Dr. Val Arkoosh noted that within that number are 18 test results that are more than a week old. The new countywide total of cases since the start of the pandemic is now 9,517.

No deaths were reported and the countywide total of confirmed deaths remains at 818.

The county’s hospitals report approximately 52 patients with Coronavirus, with nine requiring a ventilator.

The above chart that was shown during the press briefing tracks the 14-day positivity rate off all tests taken by Montgomery County residents through July 24th. The orange line represents all the tests taken and the blue line is the 14-day average of positive test results. The data is by the date the test is taken, not the date that it is reported (as they are in the chart below).

The blue line In April, when the county was at its peak, the positivity rate was 28%. It is now 3.45%. The benchmark for having the virus under control is less than 5%. Dr. Arkoosh pointed out that the county has had a stable percentage for about a month.

The local data is as follows:

  • Conshohocken is at 51 cases, which is no change since July 28th. There have been no deaths.
  • West Conshohocken is at nine cases, which is no change since July 28th. There have been no deaths
  • Plymouth Township is at 153 cases, which is one new case since July 28th. There have been seven deaths.
  • Whitemarsh Township is at 176 cases, which is no change since July 28th. There have been 23 deaths.
