Introducing the New 401 Diner …Comfort with a Conscience

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA – (September 1, 2011) – From Isabella owner, Tom Richter, Peter Richter and Chef Michael Cappon, the new 401 Diner  in Conshohocken (401 Fayette Street; 484-351-8029) is shooting to open Monday, September 12th with a new concept, “Comfort with a Conscience.” Chef Cappon brings the same passion for flavor and flair to his comfort food as he does with his Mediterranean tapas at Isabella. The menu at the 401 Diner will feature a healthier take on comfort food with an emphasis on local, organic and sustainable ingredients.

Many ingredients are sourced locally in Pennsylvania from Kennet Square, Lancaster County, Hails’ Family Farm in Lopez, Bolton Farms in Silverdale and Snyder Farms in Perkasie. Breakfast items feature Lancaster County Free-Range Eggs ($6.00 – $9.50), Omelets ($8.00 – $9.50), Challah French Toast ($7.00 – $8.00) and Whole Wheat Pancakes ($6.50 – $8.00). Lunch, dinner and late-night dishes include Organic Veggie Chili – spicy seitan, black beans, organic tomatoes and spices topped with merry mead crème fraiche (cup- $4.00 bowl- $5.00); Prime Rib Melt – slow roasted thinly sliced pineland farms rib-eye smothered with kennett square mushrooms, sweet onions, local gouda, and au jus on soft artisan roll ($12.00); And Roasted Turkey – bolton farm’s turkey breast and leg, with smashed kennebec potatoes, spiced cranberry chutney, herbed brioche stuffing and a sage scented turkey gravy ($13.50).

“My vision was to create a place where people could have a healthy and affordable meal,” explains owner Tom Richter. “I want them to feel good about what their eating and be able to dine with us a few times a week.”

The interior and kitchen have been revamped with a new decor and state of the art equipment. The old booths and tables have been replaced with recycled oak church pews and hand tiled tables. The exterior will wow all that drive by with a hand-cut glass mosaic facade designed by Tom Richter, himself.

Guests at the 100 seat diner will be offered the option of BYOB with no corkage fee. Future plans include fresh seasonal mixers to accompany the guest’s spirits and live music on the weekends.
