Jason Mase, Chef at The Stonerose

How did you come to live and/or work in Conshohocken?

I moved to Conshohocken in 2005 after living in Ardmore for a year.  I had been working at the Guard House in Gladwyne.  When The Stonerose was under construction in 2009, I stopped in and introduced myself to Brian and Jim.  I was hired as the Stonerose’s chef two weeks after opening.  I am originally from Liberty, PA.

Tell us about your restaurant or bar….

I am the chef at The Stonerose, a friendly outgoing restaurant with a casual atmosphere.  We base our menu on local ingredients and put a homestyle touch on all our dishes.  I base a lot of  The Stonerose’s dishes on things I tasted in my mother’s kitchen.

What is your favorite dish or drink at The Stonerose?

The Stonerose Burger cooked medium rare and our pan seared diver scallops with pancetta and pear risotto, mushroom cream sauce and a vegetable.

Besides something from your place, what is your favorite dish or drink in Conshohocken?

Pepperoncini has my two favorite dishes; the baked herb crusted wings with balsalmic reduction and the Goombah Pizza with hot banana peppers, fresh spinach and prosciutto di parma.

What are you involved in outside of work?

I like to garden, ride my bike on the Conshy pike path and follow Philly sports team.

Dream locale to open a restaurant/bar?

I would open a gourmet pancake and breakfast place right on the beach in Maui.
