John Kennedy Mazda Awards Single Mom with Free Vehicle

Mazda dealerships across the northeast have teamed up with Baltimore-based nonprofit Vehicles for Change with the goal of awarding 100 vehicles to 100 families in need of personal transportation to gain or maintain employment. The ‘Drive to 100’ program will award refurbished Mazdas at dealerships from Washington, D.C. to Massachusetts between April and December 2016. Mazda dealerships in the greater Philadelphia area will be providing six refurbished vehicles for Vehicles for Change to award to local families on Saturday, June 11.

The local Philadelphia area Mazda dealership was John Kennedy Mazda in Conshohocken. On Saturday, General Manager Chris Mancini provided the keys to a refurbished Mazda to Erica Jordan, a local single mother with a child with asthma. Watch the video below:

In an effort to support VFC’s mission of helping low-income families become financially self-sufficient through access to transportation, anyone who donates a vehicle to VFC can bring their donation receipt to their local Mazda dealership and receive $500 toward the purchase of a new Mazda for a limited time. Donations will be accepted directly through VFC or at the nearest participating Mazda dealership.

“This partnership with Mazda has allowed us to expand VFC’s impactful car award program to cities across the northeast,” said VFC President Marty Schwartz. “Access to transportation severely limits an individual’s ability to be financially independent and provide for their families, and we know families are struggling in every city in the U.S.”

This partnership will extend Mazda Drive for Good®—Mazda’s end-of-year effort to raise money and commit service hours to charities across the nation—throughout the entire year.
