Lafayette Hill man charged with sexual assault at Jersey Shore

On August 13th, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Chief Thomas McQuillen of the Sea Isle City Police Department announced the arrest of 60-year old Stephen Gallagher, a resident of the Lafayette Hill.

The announcement states that on July 12th the Sea Isle City Police Department and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit initiated a joint investigation concerning sexual contact of a child under the age of 18-years old while on the beach in Sea Isle City.

According to a report in the Press of Atlantic City, the July 12th incident took place after Gallagher helped the 12-year-old girl up after she had been knocked down by a wave.

As a result of this investigation, on August 12th, Gallagher was charged with one (1) count of Sexual Assault, a crime of the second degree, one (1) count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a crime of the third degree. On the same date, Gallagher was arrested and processed for the above-listed charges and released pending court proceedings.
