Plymouth Township’s Council to consider purchase of property adjacent to community center

On the July 5th agenda for Plymouth Township’s Council is the consideration for the township to purchase the property at 818 Germantown Pike in Plymouth Meeting. The property is located between the Greater Plymouth Community Center and Germantown Pike. The property currently has a single-family home.

The purchase of property is one of the few items an elected body or government agency can discuss in an executive session outside the view of the public. However, any vote on making a purchase must be done in public. We should know more about the plan for the property after the July 5th meeting.

The township has been purchasing property adjacent to the community center for years. In 2000, the township purchased the property at the corner of Jolly Road and West Germantown Pike for $197,000. In 2013, 816 West Germantown Pike was purchased for $462,500.
