Plymouth Whitemarsh High School’s Adam Johnson has achieved the rare distinction of receiving congressional appointments to both the United States Military Academy at West Point and the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis. The senior has decided to attend West Point, where he will major in mechanical engineering, and intends to join the marathon team to compete in the Sandhurst Military Skills Competition.

“I am looking forward to the leadership development program, the challenging and competitive environment, military training, and the opportunities West Point has to offer,” he said.

Johnson received nominations from Senator Pat Toomey and Representative Madeleine Dean to attend West Point, and the United States Naval Academy appointment from Dean as well. Johnson was also offered scholarships to attend Texas A&M University, as well as a national scholarship to be used at a four-year university offering a Naval ROTC program. 

After graduating from West Point, he will be commissioned into the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant Infantry Officer, detailing in military intelligence.
