Regional Rail Service in Center City Suspended. Major Delays

SETPA has shut down Regional Rail in Center City due to what it states as police activity. The notice also states trains can be delayed up to 90 minutes.

Below is what SEPTA posted on its website:

Airport, Chestnut Hill East, Chestnut Hill West, Cynwyd, Fox Chase, Glenside Combined, Lansdale/Doylestown, Media/Elwyn, Manayunk/Norristown, Paoli/Thorndale, Trenton, Warminster, Wilmington/Newark, West Trenton : UPDATE: No train service through Center City until further notice due to police activity. Trains may experience delays of up to 90 minutes.

NBC10 reports the following:

A SEPTA spokeswoman told NBC10 there was an equipment issue on a train between 30th Street and Suburban stations. Passengers on the train then evacuated due to the issue and power was cut to safely get them off the tracks. No injuries have been reported however.

A SEPTA passenger told NBC10 the train lost power. When the power was restored about five minutes later, power lines began to spark which caused some passengers to panic and break windows to get off the train.
