As MoreThanTheCurve.com reported in March, Ruh Ro’s Pet Shoppe is opening at the Whitemarsh Shopping Center (the former Pet Valu space) in Conshohocken at the intersection of Ridge and Butler Pikes. We can now report that the pet specialty retailer is set to open its doors on Saturday, May 29th with a grand opening celebration.
Ruh Ro’s is owned by Conshohocken-native BethAnn Gomes and her husband Chris Gomes. The duo has 20 years of experience in the pet industry.
“I always felt that the community was missing a true independent pet store where pet parents could come with their pets and feel at home while relying on staff to make the proper recommendations to the betterment of their pet’s health,” shared Beth. “With Pet Valu’s sudden exodus from the United States, I felt it offered the perfect opportunity to give the community exactly that while helping to save some of the jobs that Pet Valu left behind.” Three of the employees of the previous company have been retained.
The store will offer food, treats, supplies, and more for dogs, cats, small animals, birds, reptiles, and fish. Product assortments focus on offering high-quality nutrition options at affordable prices. In addition, the store will have a do-it-yourself dog wash for a low price of $10 which includes shampoo and a treat for the pet afterward. The store will also have cats and kittens available for adoption. Starting June 1st, curbside pickup and local delivery will be available through the store’s website.
The grand opening on May 29th will include several raffle baskets available to win, plus 20% off deals on a variety of brands including Stella & Chewy, Zignature, Verus, Annamaet, and more. The store is also offering a free doggie ice cream courtesy of Boss Dog Brands with every purchase. There will be food provided for all customers courtesy of Ill Illanos Pizzeria.
Several of the raffle baskets highlight other local businesses within the community. Three tickets for a chance to win will be provided for every $20 spent on products through the following weekend. Additional tickets may be purchased individually for $10. For a full list of the baskets, see below:
