Support the Spring Mill Farmers’ Market

Last year was the inaugural season of the Spring Mill Farmers Market and we are preparing for the market to open for the 2016 season on May 8th. The market will be held on Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and run through the end of October. It is held in the parking lot at the corner of East Hector and Lee Streets. The market is a partnership between MoreThanTheCurve.com and Greener Pastures, with Greener Pastures acting as the market manager.

We have a host of ideas on how to grow the market, but frankly, the market doesn’t make any money. MoreThanTheCurve.com actually lost money last year. That is not a complaint, just the reality. We have a lot of ideas on how to grow the market, but we need funding and we are asking the public to support Conshohocken and Whitemarsh’s community market.

In hopes of fulfilling our vision for the market, we have created a Kickstarter campaign. If the campaign is successful, we will use the funding to pay some of the costs associated with staging the market, plus offer some educational programming, etc. More importantly, a portion of each contribution ($5 to $10) will go towards providing fresh produce throughout the season to the Colonial Neighborhood Council. Rineer Family Farms, one of the market’s farmers, has agreed to match the contributions. So every $5 turns into $10 of fresh produce for the local community pantry and Meals on Wheels.

Please note that the market is going forward no matter the results of the Kickstarter campaign. We have already locked in vendors and are planning for another great year.

So if the market is something you would like to see grow, please consider making a contribution (you could even get a market t-shirt and an invitation to a dinner at the Conshohocken Cafe with a menu sourced directly from the market).
