There was a lot of restaurant activity in Conshohocken, West Conshohocken, Plymouth Meeting and Lafayette Hill in 2018. Here is what you may have missed:
- Nudy’s Cafe selected the former Light-Parker building at the corner of West First Avenue and Fayette Street in Conshohocken for its 10th location. An opening date is not yet known. (read more)
- Stella Blu closed in January and was replaced at 1010 Ford Street in West Conshohocken by Imbibe Food & Drink. Imbibe Food & Drink opened in May and closed in late November. No replacement is yet known. (read more)
- Keystone Pizza in West Conshohocken closed this year. No replacement is yet known. (read more)
- Miller’s Ale House will be opening within a portion of the former Macy’s at the Plymouth Meeting Mall. Expect a fall 2019 opening. (read more)
- The Dapper Doughnut opened at the Plymouth Meeting Mall at the beginning of the year.
- Insomnia Cookies took the retail space at 121 Fayette Street in Conshohocken. An opening date has not yet been announced. (read more)
- Eat Greek spent a good portion of the year renovating the space at 4 East Fist Avenue in Conshohcoken. It recently began placing “help wanted” advertisements. An expected opening date is not known. (read more)
- Ted’s Pizza closed this year at 103 Spring Mill Avenue in Conshohocken. The property was purchased by the ownership of El Limon, which is planning to move from its location at 103 Fayette Street. The move date is not yet known. (read more)
- Poke Ono, which is neighbors with El Limon’s Ardmore location, confirmed that it will open a location at 103 Fayette Street once El Limon completes its move. (read more)
- The owner of the Market at Lafayette Hill and Knishes & Dishes in Lafayette Hill opened a BYOB named Dishez within the same shopping center as the other two businesses. Dishez closed within just a few months and the owner moved Knishes & Dishes into the larger Dishez space.
- The Elevation Burger at the Plymouth Meeting Mall closed in January. (read more)
- It was learned that Plymouth Square Shopping Center is planning a major renovation that includes a restaurant with a liquor license that will make its home in the spaces currently occupied by Whitemarsh Jewelers, Music Training Center and Golden Dragon. The timing and new restaurant are unknown. (read more)
- As mentioned above, Golden Dragon is losing its home in the Plymouth Square Shopping Center. Whether it is planning to close or find a new home is unknown.
- The owner of DeMedio’s Pizza, a former pizza and pasta place that is now La Cucina Italian Eatery, was sentenced to prison for tax invasion and related charges. (read more)
- Conshohocken Brewing opened Town Tap by Conshohocken Brewing in Havertown in 2018. This followed Rec Room by Conshohocken Brewing in Phoenixville in 2017 and a Bridgeport location in 2016. It opened its first location in Conshohocken in 2014. (read more)
- Donald “Donnie Mac” Mac Intosh, the former owner of the Deli on 4th passed away in April. He had sold the business to one of his employees, Stephanie Morinelli, in the summer of 2017. (read more)
- The building that is home to Lenny’s Deli was sold this year and it was learned that Lenny Januzelli would be closing the deli. A closing date is unknown. (read more)
- The Great American Pub opened a rooftop deck. (read more)
- Target and Giant at the Metroplex off Chemical Road in Plymouth Meeting both added beer and wine sales. (read more)
- When it was first announced, the redevelopment of lower Fayette Street, which became known as SORA West, had several spaces dedicated to restaurants. This year, with AmerisourceBergen’s selection of SORA West as the location of a new corporate headquarters, the number of restaurants was scaled back. Now restaurants will only consist of a restaurant in the hotel, a restaurant within the historic fire house and a coffee shop within the office building.
