Tower Crane to be Erected this Weekend at SORA West

The Borough of Conshohocken has announced that a tower crane will be erected this weekend at SORA West, the redevelopment site along the western unit block of Fayette Street. The work is going to start early in the morning (5:30 a.m. on Saturday and 7:00 a.m. on Sunday) and go into the early evening.

A letter has been sent to the nearby residents. You can read it below:

Local Residents,

We wanted to inform you that we are in the process of scheduling our construction site tower crane erection for the Sora West Project. As you may know, the new Sora West Building is 12 stories. Due to the height of this building, a stationary tower crane is required for the structural steel erection. While tower cranes are as safe as mobile cranes the process of constructing the crane is significant. It requires extensive coordination and scheduling. As with all our construction projects, safety is priority #1. In order to minimize the risk to the trades and traffic disruption, we have scheduled the erection during a nonworking period.

Normally tower crane erection can be expected to takes two long days, with wrap up work taking place on the 3rd day. The Borough of Conshohocken has approved our request to erect the tower crane on the following dates, during the listed times:

Saturday 8/17 5:30am to 9pm
Sunday 8/18 7am to 8pm

Other Construction activity onsite near the tower crane will need to stop. There will be a significant amount of equipment and trucks on-site during this period. There could be as many as 15 tractor-trailers loaded with crane parts, two mobile cranes as well as equipment trucks. Of course, all of this equipment requires a lot of space (on site) and scheduling and coordination are critical. We will need to stage trucks in the order that they are needed. Trucks will be required to back in and out of the job site. As a result, we have requested the assistance of the local Police force during this time.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. This is an effort to keep you informed and minimize any confusion around this activity.

Thank you
