Update on Stenton Avenue closure

Whitemarsh Township has provided an update on the closure of Stenton Avenue. The closure of the section of Stenton Avenue between Flourtown Road and Joshua Road on a daily basis between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. is due to work being done by PECO.

The update from the township is as follows:

Crews will pause work on or about February 21 to wait for the arrival of a valve needed for the utility relocation. Once work is paused, the stretch of road will be fully open until work resumes in mid-March. When work resumes, the 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. closing will return.

After that portion of the project is completed on or about the end of March, the final phase of the Stenton Avenue project which involves the reconstruction of the road and installation of storm sewers will begin. Once that phase starts, Stenton Avenue from Flourtown to Joshua will be closed around the clock. This work is expected to take one month.
