Update on Stenton Avenue Closure

Today, Whitemarsh Township sent out an update on the Stenton Avenue closure. Below is the full update from the township:

The construction work on this phase of Stenton Avenue is expected to be completed by mid- to late-November, weather permitting.

Work at this intersection involves the installation of designated left turn lanes in both directions from Stenton Avenue and a designated right turn lane from Flourtown Road. Stormwater improvements will also be made at the intersection.

Due to a PECO gas line that needed to be relocated, the original planned staging of the phased road work was delayed. PECO was further delayed due to the massive amount of rock hit when digging the trench to relocate the gas line. Also, Aqua is moving a water line but that work must follow PECO’s gas line relocation.

This is one of the five intersections the Township must improve by Court Order and the Court will not let the Township delay the work.  The Township has been meeting regularly with PECO, Aqua and the general contractor to make sure this work is expedited as much as possible.
