Whitemarsh’s Shade Tree Commission to Review The Hill at Whitemarsh’s Plan for Phase 2 on February 2nd

The Hill at at Whitemarsh will appear before Whitemarsh Township’s Shade Tree Commission on Tuesday, February 2nd at 7:00 p.m. for a review of its plan for Hawk Ridge, a new phase of the retirement community. The meeting will be held at the township building at 616 Germantown Pike in Lafayette Hill. The notice for the meeting states:

SLD 03-13 – The Hill Phase 2 – 54 multi-family independent living units in 5 buildings with 10 or 12 units in each building; each building contains internal parking for the living units in that building. A clubhouse and outdoor pool are also proposed as is additional outdoor guest parking. Some minor additions to the existing congregate building are also proposed including a 2-story addition to the health care facility including 8 new skilled nursing beds; a new porte cochere is also proposed for this building.

A resident group, Whitemarsh Residents, doesn’t feel the development plan appropriately replaces trees that need to be removed for Hawk Ridge to be built as proposed. The group created a Facebook event to invite the community to the meeting and referred to it as a “Death Match” between The Hill at Whitemarsh and the Shade Tree Commission.

Whitemarsh Residents also objects to the proposed use of a path by construction vehicles behind nearby homes. This topic will not be part of the discussion at this meeting.
