Who Wants to be on Conshohocken’s Borough Council?

The citizens of the fifth ward have been through the ringer the past few months in regards to its representation on Borough Council. At the end of August, Matt Ryan (D) resigned the seat due to a move. He had already planned to not seek reelection. Borough Council appointed Rosemary Northcutt, the Democrat running for the seat, to replace Ryan for the balance of term which was just a couple months. Northcutt then loss to Republican Kevin McMonagle.

When the new members of Borough Council were sworn in on January 4th, McMonagle did not participate because his employer does business with the Borough and views it as a conflict. We spoke to McMonagle last night at the Borough Council meeting and he seemed positive it would be resolved quickly and he would be able to take the seat on council.

It appears things didn’t go McMonagle’s way, because the Borough just posted on its Facebook page a vacancy notice for the seat in Ward 5. So if you want to be on council, below is the notice:

The Borough of Conshohocken Borough Council currently has a vacancy on Council representing Ward 5. Eligible candidates must be a resident of Ward 5 of the Borough of Conshohocken and have lived within the Ward for no less than one (1) year. Applications must be received at the Borough Administration by Friday, January 15, 2016 at 12:00 PM for consideration. Interviews to fill the vacancy will be scheduled immediately prior to the Council regular meeting on Wednesday, January 20, 2016.
