Work on 2nd Avenue Veterans Memorial Plaza in Conshohocken expected to be completed for Funfest

Work began recently on a new 2nd Avenue Veterans Memorial Plaza in Conshohocken. The new plaza will include the original memorial to veterans and “The Family” statue, plus a stage, a semi-covered lawn area, and seating.

The borough is working to have it open for Conshohocken Funfest, which is scheduled for September 19th.

The memorial was first established in 1928 on Armistice Day. Below is an image from that day.

The photo was likely taken from the second or third floor of what is now The Great American Pub. Note that the photo appears to be flipped due to the reversed location of the white home at the top of the hill. The white home, and building with a triangle roof, still stand today.
