Petition Created Asking for Better Traffic Management in West Conshohocken

A petition titled “Improve the Safety of West Conshohocken Residents” has been created that asks State Rep. Timothy Briggs and West Conshohocken’s Borough Council to better manage traffic in West Conshohocken, especially the pass through traffic generated due to the borough’s location. So far seven people have signed it and it appears the goal is to get 100 signatures.

Below is the text from the petition:

West Conshohocken, PA is a great place to live for multiple reasons. One of the most popular reasons is the location of the borough. It is like an artery to many other areas of greater Philadelphia. This also makes this small community a short cut for many people trying to avoid traffic. As a result, many drivers speed through the streets of West Conshohocken in hopes to make their destination in a timely manner. However, this has put many parts of the community in danger, specifically children. Many residents have voiced their concern to the local governing body with little to no action. The local police have done their best to enforce and manage the traffic offenders, but they are not able to monitor the issue at all times.

The concerned residents would like to see the borough council manage traffic and safeguard the residents from inevitable harm. By signing this petition, you are pleading with the West Conshohocken Borough Council to implement the following infrastructural improvements needed to ensure safety and improve the quality of life of many residents and visitors of West Conshohocken.

1. Put an additional stop sign at the intersection of Moorehead and Elizabeth Streets so that there are stop signs in both directions.

2. Put a stop sign at the intersection of Ford and Simon Streets.

3. Place speed bumps or speed tables on Ford Street, Elizabeth Street, Moorehead Avenue, Bullock Avenue and other known roads where speeding has been a reported problem by the residents.

4. Utilize one way streets as a means of managing and effectively directing motorists through the borough.

Thank you for being a part of positive change within our small community. Your involvement will make West Conshohocken a better place to live, work and play.

Sincerely,

The Concerned and Committed Residents of West Conshohocken
