This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School winning the boys basketball state championship in 1997. The Colonials defeated Franklin Regional Senior High School 50-45 to capture the state crown.
This past weekend the team held a reunion at The Great American Pub in Conshohocken to mark the anniversary. In attendance for the reunion were coaches Al Angelos, George Wadlin, Jim Donofrio, Mike McClure, and Mike “Hondo” Carlin. Players who attended were Stu Kupfer, Mike Cianci, Chuck Moore, John Salmons, Kevin Dougherty, Bryan Collins, Kevin Gall, John Fazio, and Jon Brantz.
Team managers Chris Schwartz and Dave Deats also attended, along with announcer PW Pete Boylan.
Representing the late Mark Lapera were his mother and his sister (and her family). Jeff Bill and Betsy Maiale represented former coach Henry Stofko.
Not in attendance were coach Jarrad Noble, players Gene Shipley, Billy Guess, Nishu Jani, and manager Brian Rosenfeld.
