Okay, let’s be honest. Six is just the tip of the iceberg. Here at YogaSix Conshohocken, we love that there are many, many benefits of practicing yoga, but here are some of our favorites!
1. Yoga improves strength, flexibility and balance
Holding shapes can help build muscle stamina while improving range of motion in joints. Most times, yoga is practiced barefoot, encouraging dexterity in the foot and nerve sensitivity – which is something we lose as we age! Y6 Slow Flow offers the perfect balance of strength and flexibility. Just because it’s slow, doesn’t mean it’s without challenge!
2. Yoga helps reduce and manage stress
A great yoga class can pull you out of your over-thinking mind and help connect you to your body, breath and spirit. Our instructors do a great job of guiding classes in a breath to movement experience so you can step on your mat and dive into your practice.
3. Yoga helps with back pain relief
Yoga focuses on the movements of the spine (flexion/extension/lateral flexion/rotation). This helps improve range of motion and improve back strength. Our most popular format, Y6 Hot, offers a consistent sequence so practitioners can notice progression or differences each time they step on their mat.
4. Yoga helps improve sleep patterns
Focusing on your breath can help ignite the parasympathetic nervous system (rest & digest system). In an effort to calm your mind, Y6 Restore offers slow, restful movement and a deep stretch. This gentle format allows time to slow down & draw awareness to your breath.
5. Yoga benefits heart health
There has been a lot of research dedicated to how yoga can reduce blood pressure and cholesterol. You may not consider yoga to be a cardiovascular practice, but Y6 Sculpt & Flow actually incorporates a HIIT (high intensity interval training) segment! This high energy format will get your heart rate up and is set to a fun playlist – it’s not your typical yoga class but IT IS SO FUN & EMPOWERING!!
6. Yoga connects you with a supportive community
Whether you’re in the mood for a dynamic flow like Y6 Power or are stepping on your mat for the first time and trying our beginner friendly format, Y6 101, you’ll be in good company with Y6 Conshohocken supportive teachers and staff in a welcoming, inclusive community!
