Chef Gavin Pennock – Piatto Grille

How did you come to live and/or work in Conshohocken?

I grew up in Abington, Pa and spent allot of time around the Plymouth Meeting area,  When the Opportunity came to open in this area, I didn’t hesitate!

Tell us about your restaurant or bar….

Piatto Grille’s mission is to serve comfort food and classics but with an upscale flair.  At heart, the most important aspect for us is keeping up our quality standards, and still trying to meet a price that everyone is happy with.  You won’t leave here hungry, or unsatisfied, and hopefully you come back to try all we have to offer.

What is your favorite dish or drink at your work?

It’s a three way tie between our homemade mushroom ravioli, our PEI Mussels in garlic white wine, or our pizza…we have awesome pizza.

Besides something from your place, what is your favorite dish or drink in Conshohocken?

While its not in Conshy, its close, the cornbread at Redstone is awesome.

What are you involved in outside of work?

There’s not much to my days anymore, as I practically live at work.  If I get a couple free hours on a sunday morning, I might be found on a tennis court, pursuing my second love.

Dream locale to open a restaurant/bar?

My dream is to open a private club on the outskirts of Philly.  The club would have loads of tennis courts of all types, a free community center, and three restaurants all in one huge clubhouse!  In case you’re wondering…two fine dining restaurants, French and Italian, and a casual comfort place, much like I have now.
